Several machines and equipments are needed to accomplish tasks inside construction site farms, or even our homes. Tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying and pushing to require a number of different types of machines and laborers. However, there is a machine that comes quite in handy. An engine-powered machine, with lift arms used to attach a wide variety of labor-saving tools, the skid steer equipment. Furthermore, known as the skid steers loader or skid loader, it is a vehicle that has the capacity to perform several tasks with tools and accessories that can be attached to it.

The bucket of this machine can be replaced with an almost endless list of attachments. Most bobcat attachments have specific purposes such as post hole digger, walk-way sweeper, stump grinders or ditch diggers. These attachments mostly have a hydraulic capability to operate while the older skid steer may not.

One of the striking features of a skid loader is their size. Their small size allows them to move and function in small areas and is suitable for light to medium jobs. Actually, a mini skid loader is now available in the market. It is a mini multi-functional machine which is easy to control, flexible and is about the size of a common lawn tractor. It doesn’t have seats and the operator stands on the back of the machine to operate it.

One of the unique features of this machine is its wheel and track operation. It is a four-wheeled drive with double acting cylinders, which allows the left wheels and right wheels to move and operate independently of each other. This feature enables the vehicle to do zero radius turn, an ability to turn skid steer tracks on a dime while standing perfectly still.

This unique machine was invented for cleaning up turkey manure. Tractor loaders at that time were too big and heavy to operate. It was on 1957 when the first prototype was created by the Keller Manufacturing, surpassing the expectations of its creator. It was a three-wheeled, light and compact machine. It has a rear caster wheel that can turn around within its own length and can perform the task as a traditional front-end loader.

In 1958, the Melroe Manufacturing Company acquired the rights to manufacture the loaders, hiring the Kellers to further develop the said machine. In 1958, the first four-wheel drive prototype was introduced known as the M400. The term “Bobcat”, a mammal defined as “tough, quick and agile” was the name given to M440, the developed version of M400. It is the first model to have both an enclosed drive shaft and double acting cylinders. At present, the term “bobcat” is sometimes used as a generic term for these loaders.

For a small machine that can function for a wide variety of applications, case skid steer equipment has quite a bit of power in a small package. Its small size, flexibility and easy manipulation make them a safe machine to have and use on the job site.

Obviously, there are a lot of advantages and benefits that you can acquire from this machine. It is basically a hundred tools in 1, powerful equipment in a small rigid frame of machine. It can replace several crews thus minimizing the labor force, hence minimizing money and resources. And because it’s a machine, it sure saves a lot of time completing tasks.

When you have heavy skids that require lifting and moving, make sure that you have Skid Steer Equipment to get the job done. Get all the facts about Skid Steer Implements that will benefit your business today.
